8.6.12 THE HYPOCRITES' CREED

THE HYPOCRITES' CREED

He came to save her,
or so she thought,
her white knight
like she'd been taught.

Perchance a doctor
to heal her heart.
Broken, shattered,
it had had a rough start.

When things turned crazy
her white knight went black
all that she learned
fell under attack.

And no doctor was he
as she felt her heart bleed
too late was it when she discovered
his Hipocrates' Creed.

Lie when convenient
let the story unfold
as long as she's willing
he could be bold.

But his last little lie
his last stab in her back
with his Hipocrates' Creed
left her world black.

He has gone from her world
she's repairing her heart
but she can't forget
how he tore it apart.

So she cries when she must
and smiles when she can
going forward alone
she's making her stand.

8.6.12 HARD RAIN FALLING

HARD RAIN FALLING

It starts
one drop at a time
from a white puffy cloud
just floating by.

The weight slowly builds
and the cloud becomes black
larger drops fall
in this water attack.

Get your umbrella
your galoshes and coat,
it falls even harder
creating a moat.

But do not dispair
this water do not fear
this hard rain falling
is only my tears.

6.21.12 DANCE FOR THE GODS OF SUMMER

DANCE FOR THE GODS OF SUMMER

Summer solstice fires bright
Burning, burning in the night

Dance and twirl in velvet night
Fire dances with delight

Gods descend, a glorious sight
Holding on to humans plight

All bold emotions to excite
Dance for the Gods of Summer
tonight!

6.3.12 MY EMPIRE OF DIRT

MY EMPIRE OF DIRT

It's not that I have a big piece of ground,
a small piece of earth can still smell rotten.
It's not that I've thrown seeds all around,
it just seems those would soon be forgotten.

What I have remains long after the spring
thaws come to warm earth and still frozen soil.
What I have comes with a powerful sting ...
I'm the squeaky wheel, and I need some oil.

I have news, I have scoop! Gossip have I
to tell to the world, to light up the night.
It's my empire of dirt, so don't you try
to make me pull it away from the light.

My empire, kingdom - my news to tell -
sometimes even the truth can start to smell.

FLY THE COLORS

FLY THE COLORS

Fly the colors,
bold and bright,
brilliant colors,
from dawn to night.
Fly the colors,
for brave and strong
fought for us all ...
you can't go wrong.

Fly the colors,
show your pride
for all of those
who lived and died
so that we all
may live so free.
Fly the colors
for you and me.

In honor of all
who gave their all,
fly the colors
on every mall.
That we never forgot
that our freedom's not lost,
fly the colors ...
Whatever the cost!

INVISIBLE

INVISIBLE

Intelligence tells you I am here,
Not your eyes, nor ears.
Very soon you will notice
I am not really here at all.
Sorry I am, for having
Invaded your life so deeply. I can
Barely keep the tears from falling -
Leave me alone.
Everyone knows, I am not really here.

SILENCE OF LIFE

SILENCE OF LIFE

It begs for laughter
instead of tears.
It cries for justice
instead of fears.
Longing for peace
seeing only war,
the silence of life -
the space we're looking for.

It is in the silence
that we have choice.
It is in the silence
where we find our voice.
Finding our wings
we now take flight,
the silence of life
brings darkness to light.

CHAINED TO THIS FEELING

CHAINED TO THIS FEELING

Tender-hearted at best, when
Every word spoken rips the heart
And burns the Soul,
Rendering this once rich love
Simply dust.
Anyone else would run.
No one should stay,
Denying their own soul.
Sometimes, though, the best
Option is not available.
Running, requires energy.
Running, evokes a destination.
Only, my destination has always been
Where ever you are.

DETAINED, WITHOUT REASON

DETAINED, WITHOUT REASON

Stopped, halted,
Roped and tied to a tree -
Detained, without reason,
No longer free.

A madman, crazy,
A lunatic wild.
Detained, without reason,
No more than a child.

Frightened, we're frightened;
Screaming, we yell.
Detained, without reason,
Living in hell.

There is no escape,
There's no hope to be free -
Detained, without reason,
Oh look, could be me!

IT'S NOT ENOUGH

IT'S NOT ENOUGH

I can't be smart enough
or pretty enough
or mechanical enough
at all.

Though books stay open
and make-up applied
and cars get fixed
I still fall ...

I fall short of my dreams
and short of my hopes
and short of the expectations
of all.

It's not enough to be me
it's not enough, I can see ...
It's never enough -
down I fall.

04.25.12 TESTING IN MATH

TESTING IN MATH

Calculator, oh Calculator,
you are my shining star.
I know that if I have you near.
with you, I will go far.

With you here at my side
the answers cannot hide.
Integers give me no grief -
you take their sting -
you're such a thief!

Calculator, oh Calculator,
you are my friend indeed.
I know that when it's you I use
I'll never have a need.

A formula is what I choose,
I use you both. I cannot lose.
Problem solving is such a breeze;
you do the work.
You're such a sleaze!

Calculator, oh Calculator,
I give to you my mind.
As long as you are here with me,
the answers I will find!

04.24.12 COMFORTABLY NUMB

COMFORTABLY NUMB

I want to find that place
where the collision of souls
out of control
has left everything dark
and destroyed.

Light-less,
life-less,
love-less ...
with no shattered elements
splintering in --
that is the place
I want to find.

Alone among the ruins,
alone amid the ashes
of passion now spent,
just alone
and comfortably numb,
I will find
some rest.

04.20.12 THIS SPECK OF EARTH

THIS SPECK OF EARTH

I live
this one moment
in time
breathing
this one bit of air
standing
on this one speck
of earth.

One day
I shall be
gone
but the air
will still move
and this one
speck of earth
will remain.

04.19.12 BEYOND THE BROKEN HEART

BEYOND THE BROKEN HEART

There are a million pieces
Scattered
Blood-covered
Nearly lifeless …

Mutilated
Damaged
Irreparable
They are almost unrecognizable.

Beyond bullets
Beyond death
Beyond an eternity
Of hopelessness
Is nothingness
Is emptiness
Is hollowness
And despair.

Beyond betrayal
Beyond innocence lost
Beyond the lies
Beyond the broken heart
Remains
An undiscovered
An uncovered
An unannounced

Love

That never
Will be found.

11.28.11 I FLOAT AWAY

I FLOAT AWAY

I float away.
I am nothing more
than ashes and atoms
held loosely together
by this skin,
this skin that hides
who I really am.

Skin on a face
neither pretty nor young
and with your look of disdain
I grow older.
With your petty pity
I just
float away.

I float away,
refuse to face the day
the violence
the horror ...
Lock me away
in some ivory tower
I'm crazy,
insane,
cannot see past
the frames of disaster
and panic

so I just ...
float away.
